Kick off NYE with a bang

Downtown Denver

The annual New Year’s fireworks are back again, set to music played by DJs along the 16th Street Mall. Head downtown to catch the early, family-friendly show at 9pm. Or stay up late for the midnight show.

Party '80s-style for NYE

Date:  December 31

Punch Bowl Social at Broadway & Stapleton

Break out the scrunchies, windbreakers, and anything neon. An '80s dance party is happening at Punch Bowl Social’s two Denver locations and if you’re into karaoke, pingpong, and punch bowls of boozy drinks (duh), then your plans are covered. The countdown will end with a midnight balloon drop so come ready for high-energy fun that’ll take you into 2018 on a high note.

Run toward your resolutions

Date:  Dec 31

Washington Park

The 33rd annual Resolution 5k is back and ready to help you get a running start on your 2018 resolutions. It's open to anyone who’d like to walk, stroll, or run to take in some fresh air before the NYE festivities kick off. Plus the start time is noon so you can be done in time to catch the Broncos game.
Cost: Adult registration is $35

Explore some impressive ice castles

Date:  Dec 27-Mar 3

Dillon, CO

Explore an acre of towers, slides, tunnels and more, all made out of ice. This is the only spot in Colorado to experience this unique attraction and you can be among the first to see it during opening weekend. At night, you can also catch a fire show and enjoy the embedded color lights that change to a musical soundtrack.
Cost: General admission tickets start at $15.95

National Western Stock Show

Date: January 7-22

Time: Varies, see schedule on website

Location: National Western Complex, 4655 Humboldt St, Denver CO 80216

Cost: Free

Rodeos, horse shows, and mutton bustin'... this event is an annual tradition that brings out Denver's wild west attitude and all of the cowboy hats and dusters in town.

Be The Astronaut 

Date: January 1 thru March 31, 2018

Time: 10am to 5pm Monday thru Saturday

Location: Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum: 7711 E. Academy Blvd., Hangar 1, Denver, CO 80230

Cost: $8.50 to $15.00

Developed with assistance from NASA's Langley Research Facility, Be The Astronaut challenges museumgoers to "discover the final frontier". Broken down into three interactive parts, Be The Astronaut first places "explorers" at a NAV (Navigation) Station to explore basic concepts of the universe. Second, guests move to a SCI (Science) Station that reinvents the way users think about the science and technology needed to thrive in outer space. Finally, participants move to the FLY Station. The FLY Station puts guests in control of a variety of spacecraft, including a lander, a rover and an interplanetary spaceship, on a wide variety of extraterrestrial missions.

Frosty’s Frozen Five and Ten

Date: January 20th 2018

Frosty’s Frozen Five & Ten is a flat and fast 5 mile and 10 mile race held each January in Littleton, Colorado. The race starts and finishes at Hudson Gardens and the course travels the paved Platte River Trail. An innovative technical running shirt, chip timing, and a great finish line expo make this epic winter race the best in Colorado!
